Meat of ailing cattle-head selling in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Aug 25 (BSS): A section of dishonest professional meat sellers are selling meat of sick cattle-heads in different haat-bazars of the district including the district town posing a serious threat to public health.

The reports reaching here from different parts of the district said that unhealthy cattle-heads especially cows are being slaughtered by the meat-sellers and the ailing animal's meat , which is harmful to human health, is being sold everyday on road-side areas and haats and bazars or kitchen- markets.

According to official sources, there is a law on "slaughtering animals for selling its meat" in the country, and under the existing law, a cattle slaughter should take a prior permission and examination report on the animal's health from the concerned veterinary doctors and sanitary inspectors before slaughtering cows, goats or any other animals for selling their meat.
