Mentally retarded youth kills father in B\\\'baria

BRAHMANBARIA, June 7 (UNB): A mentally retarded young man allegedly hacked his father to death at Sejamura village in Bijoynagar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sabuj Miah (65), a resident of the village.

Quoting family members, police said suddenly, Apel Miah (30), chopped his father Sabuj Miah with a sharp weapon at about 7:45 am, leaving him dead on the spot.

Apel also chopped his sister Suraiya Begum while she tried to save Sabuj, leaving her seriously injured. Injured Suraiya was admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.

Later, local people caught Apel and handed him over to police. Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Officer-in-charge of Bijoynagar Police Station Abdur Rab confirmed the incident.
