Milk Vita to provide free milk to 2000 poor students in Satkhira

The state-run cooperative dairy Milk Vita in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) will provide free milk to 2000 poor students of 10 primary schools of Tala Upazila in Satkhira district for one year, a release said Saturday.
The company will spend Tk 7.6 million as the cost of the milk while FAO has helped in setting up of a pasteurization factory at the BSCIC industrial estate in Satkhira at a cost of about Tk 10 million.
Pasteurised milk was supplied to 450 students of Tala Bazar Model Government Primary School in a programme organised Saturday. District administrator of Satkhira Nazmul Ahsan was present as the chief guest while FAO Bangladesh representative Mike Robson was present as the special guest. Milk Vita managing director Munir Chowdhury chaired the programme.
Mike Robson said FAO has been working relentlessly to poverty alleviation, reduction of malnutrition and solving the water logging problem of Satkhira.
Munir Chowdhury called upon the affluent people and people's representatives for providing financial assistance to include milk in the daily meal of the children.
