KUSHTIA, Aug 26 (UNB): A minor girl was strangulated to death at Muslimnagar village in Doulatpur upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Maya (5), daughter of Moinul Islam, a resident of Muslimnagar village.
Locals said Maya was playing in a field, adjacent to her house, wearing ornaments.
At that time, Shohel (14), also a resident of the village, along with 3-4 others took Maya to a nearby jute field and started to snatch the ornaments from her body.
As Maya started to yell, the miscreants strangulated her with a raw jute rope, leaving her dead on the spot around 10am.
Later, police recovered the body from the jute field after a frantic search around 5pm.
