RANGPUR, May 20 (BSS): A joint mobile court of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) and Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) in a daylong anti-adulteration drive fined a bakery and a litchi trader Tk 0.10 million in the city.
They conducted the drive on Sunday last.
"Executive Magistrate of the City Corporation Md. Abdul Mannan conducted the anti-adulteration drive with assistance of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police and officials concerned," a press release said on Monday.
The court fined Sayeed Bakery Factory at CO Bazaar area in the city Tk 50,000 for production of unhygienic foods amid dirty surroundings under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
Besides, the mobile court fined the same businesses establishment more Tk 50,000 for illegally using polythene sheets.
Later, the mobile court fined four litchi traders Tk 4,000 with Tk 1,000 each for selling of the seasonal fruits illegally on the roads in front of the Rangpur City market in the evening, the release added.
Executive Magistrate Mannan told journalists that similar anti-adulteration drives would continue in future to ensure pure and safe food for citizens.
“Strict implementation of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 is also our another motto”, the further said.
