RANGPUR, Jan 21 (BSS): A mobile court of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) today stopped illegal lifting of sand, seized a shallow machine and a truck red-handed from the river Ghaghot at Kishamat Bishu Manzai area of the city.
Led by Executive Magistrate of RCC Rashedul Islam, the mobile court conducted a sudden drive, stopped illegal sand lifting and seized the shallow machine and truck for greater public interests and maintaining environment, ecology and bio-diversity.
RCC Councilor Moha-mmad Akhteruzzaman for Ward No-31 and President of Ward No-31 unit of Awami League Jamal Miah were present during the drive conducted by the mobile court.
While commenting on the drive, City Mayor and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu said the mobile court will conduct similar drives frequently with a view to completely stop illegal sand lifting from the river Ghaghot.
