More Beel nurseries demanded in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, May 21 (BSS): Participants at a workshop today stressed the need to set up more Beel nurseries in the district as they have been playing a vital role in fish production.

Under the project of 'setting up Beel nursery and releasing fish fry in open water bodies' Fisheries Department arranged the workshop at its training room.

Project Director Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman was present at the workshop as chief guest while District Fisheries Officer Ranjit Kumar Paul was in the chair.

A total of 50 people included Upazila Fisheries Officers, Field Assistants and beneficiaries took part in the workshop.

Project Director Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman said Fisheries Department has been implementing the project with a government fund of Tk over one billion (118 crore 9 lakh 19 thousand) in 60 districts across the country from 2014.
