More connectivity among neighbouring countries emphasised

RAJSHAHI, May 31 (BSS): Speakers at a seminar here Sunday unequivocally called for more connectivity among the neighbouring countries, especially with India, Nepal and Bhutan for substantial and sustainable development of the region.

They mentioned that connectivity at people's level of SAARC countries should be enhanced to develop better understanding along with upholding regional peace and stability in the region. Not only through tourism, the relation may be improved in cultural, sports and also in other arenas.

There should be provision of road and railways connectivity between Bangladesh and Nepal and Bhutan instead of only the airway for the sake of welfare of the people.

SAARC Peoples Link Forum-bd, Rajshahi organised the seminar styled "Connectivity between Bangladesh-India-Nepal-Bhutan" held at the conference hall of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

With Prof Dr Sayeedur Rahman Khan, former Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University and former Bangladesh High Commissioner to UK, in the chair, Managing Director of Barind Medical College and Hospital Md Shamsuddin and its Principal Prof Dr BK Dam, RCCI President Md Muniruzzaman, Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat spoke on the occasion as guests of honour. Forum President Mustafizur Rahman Khan moderated the discussion.

The speakers termed the Bangladesh-India relation as cordial and long-lasting and said visa procedure should be made more easy and liberalized. In case of medical and other emergencies visa should be given even within a day.
