JOYPURHAT, July 16 (bdnews24.com): A woman and her five-year-old son have died after being rammed by a train in the Pachbibi upazila in Joypurhat.

The accident occurred on Monday evening, said Faisal Bin Ahsan, chief of Pachbibi Police Station. However, detailed information of the accident only became available around 8:30pm, he said.

The dead were identified as 25-year-old Shahnaz Begum, the wife of Moniruzzaman Mithu from Motihara village in Dinajpur's Nawabganj Upazila, and her son 5-year-old Shoaib Zaman.

"Shahnaz, a housewife, and her son Shoaib were walking on the rail tracks when the Lalmonirhat-bound Ekota Express from Dhaka hit them and killed them on the spot," the police officer said, citing locals.

"Police recovered the bodies after locals informed them of the incident," he said.

Santahar police handed the bodies over to the family around 11pm after completing the legal formalities, OC Faisal said.
