Mother, son among three killed in Noakhali road crash

NOAKHALI, Aug 3 (BSS) : At least three people, including a woman and her son, were killed in a road accident on the Begumganj-Feni regional highway in Dokan Ghor area of Durgapur union under Begumganj upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Jasim Uddin, 55, his mother Tahera Begum ,75, and his cousin Salimulla's wife Kohinur Begum, 45, residents of Chadu Bepari Bari in Durgapur union under Begumganj upazila of the district.

The accident occurred in the area when a passenger bus of Star Line was going to Lakshmipur from Feni. On the way, the bus hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw coming from the opposite direction around 10:30am , leaving three dead on the spot, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraganj Highway Police Station Ruhul Amin said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot, he said.

Police seized the bus and CNG-run auto rickshaw.

A case is under process in this connection, the OC added.
