M’singh student killed hours after celebrating his 24th birthday

A young man has been hacked to death on his way home after celebrating his birthday with his friends in Mymensingh, reports bdnews24.com.

The murder took place on Monday night at the Mazar Road intersection in Gafargaon municipality, said Gafargaon Police Station chief ASM Atiqur Rahman.

The deceased, 24-year-old Nahiyan Robin, was a sophomore student at a local government college.

Witnesses and locals say that it was Nahiyan's birthday on Tuesday. On the occasion, his friends organised a birthday party at the Gafargaon Dakbungalow premises at 12:01am on Tuesday. After cutting his birthday cake there, Nahiyan was returning home on his friend Shakibul Hasan's motorcycle at 12:30am.

As soon as they reached the Mazar Road intersection, just 500 yards from their home, six to seven assailants who had been waiting in ambush stopped their motorcycle.
