Muggers’ attack on students sparks protest in Pabna

PABNA, Oct 25: Angry students of Pabna Edward College blocked Pabna-Rajshahi highway in front of the college campus protesting muggers attack on three students of the college. Earlier the muggers stabbed three residing students of the college on Friday night near 'Kamal Uddin Hall', a student dormitory of the college.
A group of muggers and criminals backed by BCL, a student wing of the ruling party, used to harass general students of the college since long but nobody was punished, students claimed seeking anonymity. BCL men joined the agitating students saying organisational steps would be taken if anybody found guilty.
Agitating students said three residing students of Kamal Uddin Hall of the college were stabbed and mugged on Friday night near the dormitory. They are Ahmed Ali, Arif Hossain and Sabbir.
"Muggers tried to snatch mobile sets from them on Friday night. Trying to resist muggers, they stabbed them." Md. Firoz, one of the agitating students said.
Officer in charge of Pabna Sadar police station Kazi Haniful Islam said police usually does not enter into the campus. Most of the incidents happened in the campus, the OC said.
