NAOGAON, Nov 05: Varieties of winter vegetables are being grown abundantly across Mohadevpur upazila of the district this season.

Repeated plenteous production and fair price have encouraged the farmers to cultivate winter vegetables on a large scale.

During a recent visit to the upazila this correspondent saw winter vegetables growing fast on a vast tract of land.

In the meantime, some vegetables have already appeared in the local markets.

Each kg of coriander leaf is selling at Tk 200 to Tk 250 and green chilli at Tk 60 to Tk 70.

DAE sources said cabbage, cauliflower, chilli, radish, tomato, coriander leaf and bottle gourd are the most popular vegetables among the cultivators in the area due to high market demand.

Farmer Altaf Hossain said cultivators are working hard at their field so that they can get a bumper yield.

Plants are growing beautifully amid favourable weather, he added.

DAE has provided all sorts of support to the growers so that they can cultivate vegetables without any hassle.

Farmers of Safapur, Mahinagar, Comirdah, Kalna, Sherpur, Enayetpur, Mahishbathan, Gofanagar, Natsal, Gopalpur, Fazilpur, Shibganj, Sultanpur, Uttargram, Bamansatta, Karnapur, Kantapur, Jatraganj and Patakhatan areas of the upazila are well-known for growing quality winter vegetables every season.
