Nazrul struggled for establishing universal humanism : Speakers

RANGPUR, May 30 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion here have said that the lifelong struggles of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam were aimed at establishing universal humanism against injustice and communalism in the society.
They termed rebel poet Nazrul as a philosopher and great source of inspiration during the War of Liberation to free the nation from deprivation, exploitation, injustice and communalism and called upon the people to follow his ideals.
They were addressing the discussion organised by District Shilpokola Academy (DSA) at its auditorium in the city on Friday evening in observance of the 116th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The DSA chalked out programmes, including recitation of Nazrul poems, self-composed poems dedicated to Nazrul, rendering Nazrul songs, dance and cultural evening. With Vice-president of DSA Sirajul Islam Siraj in the chair, President of Rangpur Ladies Club and District Women Sports Association Farhana Yasmin Farid attended the discussion as the chief guest. General Secretary of DSA Tauhidur Rahman Titul, cultural personality Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu, President of Rangpur Sahittya-Sangskriti Parishad Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, its former General Secretary Anwarul Islam Raju, Director of Rangpur Community Medical College Ashraful Alam Al-Amin, General Secretary of District Sommilito Sangskritik Jyote Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick and Advisor of Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela Raihan Uddin addressed as special guests.
