New-born baby held hostage for ransom

FARIDPUR, Feb 9 (BSS): A mugger snatched away all belongings of three women and kept a new born baby hostage for sometime demanding ransom yesterday here at a private clinic.

The incident took place in the afternoon when an armed mugger entered into a cabin on the second floor of the clinic at Goalchamat area where wife of one Anil Kumar Roy was staying with her new born baby and two female relatives.

The mugger picked up the baby at a dagger point and asked money from the three women and threatened to kill the baby if they don't fulfill the demand.

Being scared, the three women gave away all their cash, gold ornaments and two mobile phones to the mugger who left the place giving back the baby.

According to a physician of the clinic, the mugger, when entering the floor, locked the room of the nurses from outside so that they could not come out to help the victims.

A case was registered with Kotwali police in this connection who visited the clinic immediately after being informed. The police is now trying to trace out the mugger.
