New bridge opens in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Mar 23 (BSS): The newly constructed Gantur Ghat bridge on Pathraj river under Debiganj upazila of the district was inaugurated today.
Advocate Nurul Islam Sujon, MP, formally inaugurated the 66 metre long and 6.85 metre wide bridge, by unveiling the plaque at a simple ceremony as the chief guest.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Safiqul Islam presided over the function while Sree Subash Shah, executive engineer of Panchagarh, was present as the special guest.
The programme was addressed, among others, by Debiganj upazila chairman M Hasnat Zaman Chowdhury, vice-chairman Parimal Dey Sarker, upazila Awami League president M Nuruzzaman and upazila engineer M Saiful Islam.
The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) implemented the construction of the bridge at a cost of Tk 28.6 million under the supervision of the concerned officials.
