New road network to link three tourist destinations in Sylhet

SYLHET, June 24: The LGED has taken an initiative to construct a 32.5 kilometre road to connect three popular tourist destinations in Sylhet's Bholaganj directly.
As a result, travellers would reach the spots without having to travel to Sylhet city and enjoy the landscapes that feature mountains, rivers, tea gardens and rockey streams along the border.
People linked with tourism of the district believe that with the new route, travellers can enjoy hasslefree visit to Sadapathar, Bichnakandi and Jaflong without going to Sylhet city.
According to LGED sources, in one part of the project, a direct connection will be established between Sadapathar and Bichnakandi in Bholaganj by constructing a 19.5 kilometer road. In the other part, another 13 kilometer road will be constructed from Radhanagar to Jaflong.
They also said that there are plans to build four bridges along the entire route.

Locals say that the attraction of this road will be its natural beauty. Along the entire route bordering Indian Meghalaya, there will be mountain ranges, clear water streams of the Piain and Dhalai rivers, and rural towns surrounded by greenery. On the way, a visitor will see the white-stoned river, the rocky water flow of Bichnakandi and the unique beauty of the Dauki River in Jaflong. The beauty of this road will increase further with mountain waterfalls and clouds during the monsoon.
Local public representatives and residents have also welcomed the project. Chairman of North Ronikhai Union Parishad No. 5 Md. Faizur Rahman said that if its implemented, the image of the rural villages along the border will change.
Ahmed Ali, BNP president of the same union, said that along with tourism, there will be positive changes in travel, business and trade and local market systems.
