KCC distributes sewing machines among distressed women

KHULNA, Dec 2, 2023 (BSS): Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque on Saturday distributed 97 electric sewing machines among 97 distressed women as the chief guest. Aiming for Socio-Economic Development, the Mayor distributed the sewing machines among the women who are the beneficiaries of Marginal People Livelihood Development Project (LIUPC) conducted under the supervision of the KCC. In cooperation with China-UNDP Triangular and South-South Cooperation, the sewing machines were distributed under the project of 'Supporting Emergency Supplies of PPE and Transforming Technological know-how in response to Covid-19 in Bangladesh. The Mayor said poor women can change their fates if they get little assistance like a sewing machine. — BSS

Farmers get agri incentive for Boro cultivation

GOPALGANJ, Dec 02: A total of 70,000 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of the district were given seeds and fertilisers as agricultural incentives under the incentive programme free of cost for hybrid and high-yielding (Ufshi) Boro paddy cultivation in the current Rabi season. To increase the interest of farmers in Boro paddy cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said. The seeds and fertilisers were distributed recently under the concerned upazila agriculture office, Deputy Director of the DAE Abdul Quader Sardar said. He said that two kgs of hybrid Boro seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser and 10 kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer were given to each farmer free of cost for Boro paddy cultivating on one bigha of land among 40,000 farmers of the district. — BSS
