Woman's body found in

her Narsingdi house

olice recovered a woman's body from her house in Palash of Narsingdi district at 9:00 pm on Tuesday. The dead, Delwara Begum (62), was a housewife and wife of late Malek Dewan. According to her family members, two of the deceased's three sons live abroad. One of the sons living abroad made a phone call to the neighbour to askabout his mother. When the neighbours went to the house, they came across the dead body. Palash thana police and PBI members visited the spot after receiving the information. The deceased's family alleged that neighbour Habil Mia's family could be behind the murder due to ongoing land dispute and lawsuit. Mohammad Ikhtiyar Uddin, officer-in-charge of Palash Pthana, said initially it is not possible to say who is involved in the murder. Legal action will be taken after the family's complaint and investigation, he said. — UNB

‘Robber’ lynched in Habiganj

A mob lynched a suspected member of a robber gang on Tuesday on the Lokra-Madna road in Lakhai upazila of Habiganj. The dead is ringleader Hiraj Mia (40), son of Judge Mia at Dhal village in Habiganj Sadar upazila. Another member of the gang Abbas Mia (30), son of late Mastu Mia of the same village, was detained. Nazmul Haider, sub-inspector of Lakhai than, said 8 to 10 robbers took position near Jhanjhania bridge of Goakhara village on Lukra-Madna road on at 11:00 pm on Tuesday. Sensing the presence of the robbers, local people chased them and gave Hiraj Mia a good thrashing, leaving him injured. — UNB
