Bogie of freight train
derails in B'baria
BRAHMANBARIA, Nov 20: A bogie of a freight train derailed at Borohoron near Brahmanbaria rail station in Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning, snapping the rail communication with Dhaka through the up line. However, the train communication through the down line on Dhaka-Chattogram-Sylhet rail route is normal. Imtiaz Rahman, locomaster of the freight train, said two wheels of the Dhaka-bound goods-laden train from Chattogram veered off the tracks a few yards off Brahmanbaria rail station around 11 am, halting train movement on the up line. A number of trains were stranded at different rail stations, causing suffering to the commuters. — UNB
Yaba pills seized in Cox's Bazar
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 100,000 Yaba pills from Palongkhali border in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar district early Wednesday. Tipped off, a team of BGB-34 conducted a drive in Farir Beel area at around 01:30 am and seized the Yaba pills in an abandoned condition, said commanding officer of BGB-34, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Mashruki. Body of missing 5-year old
boy found in pond
Chapainawabganj, Nov 20: The body of a five-year-old boy, missing for four days, was recovered from a pond in Sheikhpura village, Gomastapur upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Wednesday, marking a grim end to the search. The deceased, identified as Nepal Toppo, was the son of Dulal Toppo. According to local police, Nepal had left home on November 16 but did not return, prompting his family to file a general diary (GD) with Gomastapur Police Station the following day. Locals discovered the boy's body floating in a pond near his house early Wednesday and alerted authorities. Police subsequently retrieved the body and confirmed the tragic incident.— UNB
