NILPHAMARI, May 18: Hectic campaign is going on in entire Nilphamari district by the administration to eliminate child marriage in the district.
All the TNO's of six upazilas of the district are actively participating in each and every programmes relating to eliminate child marriage arranged by the respective UP chairmen.
The initiative in which hundreds of people are participating has turned into a social movement.
In the meantime Jaldhaka upazila has been declared child marriage free, a venture which is being replicated by the other upazilas. DC of Nilphamari Zakir Hossain is considered as the pioneer of this extra administrative initiative which is backed by Rangpur Division Commissioner Dilwar Bakth.
Sources said divisional commissioner attended many such gatherings concerning child marriage elimination arranged by Nilphamari district administration.
Sources added one girl child named Orgina Begum who escaped from child marriage and on the initiative of an NGO was invited and attended a child convention in Oslo in Norway is also actively participating in the anti-child marriage campaigns.
