Nilphamari farmers getting free fertilisers to recoup flood losses

NILPHAMARI, Nov 5: To recoup the losses that some farmers sustained in Aman cultivation during the last flood in Nilphamari district, the government is distributing chemical fertilisers and seeds free of cost to them for cultivating winter crops.
DAE sources said a total of Tk 1335650 has been sanctioned for 850 farmers of the district for distribution of seeds and fertilisers. The financial support has been provided to cultivate wheat, mustard and, maize in this Robi season of 2014-2015.
A list of flood affected marginal and small farmers of five UP's of Teesta river basin area of Jaldhaka and Dimla upazila has already been made. The selection of the affected farmers were made by a team comprising BS of DAE and Chairman of the concerned UP's.
