LAXMIPUR, Mar 20 (BSS): A mobile court in a drive has arrested nine fishermen, seized fishing boat and nets from various areas of Meghna river under Sadar upazila of the district for defying the government's ongoing two-month ban on all kinds of fishing including catching of jatka (hilsa fry).
Later, the mobile court fined nine fishermen Tk 6,000.
District Fisheries Officer Aminul Islam said a total of nine fishermen were arrested with four engine driven boats and 1.80 lakh metres of current nets during the drive from the river of Meghna sanctuary area of the district.
