Officials asked to work for protecting interest of the poor and distressed

RAJSHAHI, June 15 (BSS): Speakers at a workshop have asked the officials and others concerned to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for protecting the interests of poor and distressed people rightly.

They also urged them to reduce system loss in project implementation that needs careful measures.

There is no alternative to come out from the existing weakness relating to project and beneficiary scrutiny to protect the interests of the underprivileged section of the society.

They were addressing the inaugural session of a daylong training workshop styled "Competence, Administrative Monitoring and Evaluation in Social Safety Net Programmes" held at Nanking Darbar Hall in the city yesterday.

Divisional Commissioners' Office organised the workshop in association with Safety Net Special Programmes Project where all the additional deputy commissioners, district relief and rehabilitation officers, Upazila Nirbahi officers and project implementation officers from eight districts under the division attended.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed and Project Director Zabed Ahmed addressed the session as chief and special guests respectively with Munir Hossain, Additional Commissioner (General) in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Training Expert Nurul Islam and Project Expert Dr Syeda Khaleda also spoke.
