Old man killed in a bid to stop clash in Sylhet

SYLHET, Jun 25 (UNB): An old man was killed as he attempted to stop a clash between two brothers at Angarjore village in Goainghat upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sikandar Ali, 70, a resident of the village.

Locals said one Alauddin of Angarjore village had an altercation with his brother Alim Uddin over a trivial matter in the morning and at one stage, they attacked each other.

When neighbour Sikandar moved forward to stop the clash between the two siblings, a brick chip thrown by Alim Uddin towards Aladuddin hit him (Sikandar), leaving him injured.

Sikandar was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 10:00am.

On information, police visited the spot and detained Alim.
