OMS flour in high demand in Magura

MAGURA, Feb 24: Flour under the Open Market Sale (OMS) has created a good demand among the common people of the district.
The district food office sources said they started OMS of flour from February 03. A total of five dealers have been deployed in the municipal area of the town to run the programme.
Every buyer can purchase up to 5.0 kgs of the item a day at Tk 17 per kg.
Belayet Hossein, an NGO worker of Islampur area said flour is being sold Tk 26 per kg in the market. But under OMS, people get the necessary commodity item at Tk 17 per kg.
School teacher Beloara Khanom of Nanduali area said quality flour is being sold under the OMS drive.
It is a relief for the fixed-income people, she added.
Dealer Balai Chandra Kuri said, "We get a good response from the people. The authority concerned has allotted one ton of flour per day. If the allotment can be increased people will get more benefit."
District food controller Md Rezaul Islam said, "We are happy as the OMS programme runs successfully."
