One beaten to death for theft in Pabna

PABNA, Dec 22: A suspected thief was beaten to death and another sustained injury by angry mob in Tebaria of Ataikula thana in Pabna on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as Md. Rajon Hossain, 30, son of Pintu of village Chatiyani in Pabna sadar Upazila under the district.

Police and the locals said Rajon and his aide Raju Ahmed rushed to steal battery from Grameen Bank tower in Tebaria village at about 1pm on Monday.

At one stage locals found them in act and chased them. Angry mob beat them on the spot. At the critical condition they both were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital where Rajon succumbed to his injuries, said Md. Faizur Rahman, officer in charge of Ataikula police station.

Raju is undergoing treatment in the hospital the OC said.

A case was filed with Ataikula thana about the incident.
