One gets 10 yrs in Jhalakati arms case

JHALAKATI, Feb 18 (UNB): A special court here on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years' imprisonment in an arms case.

The convict was identified as Mostafizur Rahman, 32, son of Mojibur Rahman Majnu of Asatyakathi village in Nesarabad upazila of Pirojpur district.

Judge Abdur Rahim Talukder of Special Tribunal Court-3 handed down the verdict. According to the prosecution, local people of Bikna area in the district town caught two robbers-Mostafizur Rahman and Mahidul Islam-while they were committing a robbery in the area at about 1:00 am and handed over them to police on June 21, 2012.

Later, police recovered one light gun from Mostafizur's possession.
