One killed, 35 hurt in Sirajganj clash

SIRAJGANJ, Sept 15 (UNB): One person was killed and 35 others, including five women, were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Sirajganj municipality area on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Imran, 25, son of Isa Mondal, a resident of Sayagobind Moholla in the town.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Habibul Islam said residents of two neighbouring villages - Sayagobind and Diyardhanpara under the municipality-locked into the clash around 10 am over establishing control over the area, leaving one dead and 35 others injured.
During the clash that continued for more than three hours, at least seven houses were also torched and more 15-16 ones ransacked.
Informed, police rushed to the spot, charged baton to disperse the warring groups.
