KUSHTIA, Dec 20 (UNB): A man was killed and his son sustained injuries in an attack by rivals at Poradah village in Mirpur upazila on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 50, of the village.
Police said there had been a longstanding dispute between two groups establishing supremacy in the area.
Nurul, a supporter of chairman, came under attack by their rivals, including Parvez, Masud, Fazlu and Kabir with his son Sajib, 25, from a local bazaar.
The attackers chopped Nurul and his son Sajib with sharp weapons, leaving them injured critically. They were taken to hospital where doctors declared Nurul dead.
