One killed while quarrying stones

SYLHET, Apr 2 (UNB): A stone quarry worker was killed and another injured while extracting stones at Lobhachhara stone quarry in Kanaighat upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Matin,18, son of Shafiqul Haque, a resident of Saud village in the upazila.

Police said a chunk of stone fell on a group of workers in the morning while they were extracting stones in the quarry after digging a hole, killing Matin on the spot and injuring another.

The injured was rescued and rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Police recovered the body of Matin and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
