One shot dead, 6 hurt by robbers in Rajbari

RAJBARI, Dec 22 (UNB): A man was killed and six others injured a gang of robbers opened fire at them while fleeing after committing robbery at Ambaria village in Kalukhali upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Safiuddin, 45, son of Elafat Mandol, a resident of the same village.
Nur-e-Alam, officer-in-charge of Kalukhali Police Station, said a gang of robbers, numbering 10-12, stormed into the house of Shahabuddin of the village around 2:30 am and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.
They looted some gold ornaments, Tk 10,000 cash, a motorcycle and other valuables from the house.
Hearing screams of the house inmates, local people rushed to the spot and chased the robbers.
Sensing danger, the robbers fired several gunshots, leaving villager Safiuddin dead on the spot and six others injured.
The injured were admitted to Pangsha Health Complex.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection.
