One shot dead over land dispute in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Aug 5 (UNB): A man was shot dead by some miscreants at Vilagerchhara village in Banshkhali upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Mojaher Ahmad, 58, a resident of the village.

Qamrul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Banshkhali Police Station, said a group of miscreants opened fire on Mojaher through the window at about 12:30 am while he was talking to his family members in his house, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police said Mojaher might have been killed following previous enmity with his neighbours over a piece of land.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
