One to die, 3 sentenced to life for killing farmer

NETRAKONA, Apr 17 (BSS): A court here yesterday sentenced one person to death, three others to life imprisonment and another two to three years rigorous imprisonment for killing a farmer at Suhagpur village under Kendua upazila of the district in 2007.
The court also fined the three persons, who were awarded life imprisonment, Taka 50,000 each in default to suffer another five years of rigorous imprisonment and fined other two Taka 3,000 each in default to suffer three months of rigorous imprisonment.
Additional district and session judge Mohammad Abdul Hamid pronounced the verdict at the crowded room here.
The convict who got the death penalty was Bablu, son of Abdul Sahed of the same area. The other convicts were Abdul Sahed, Ratan, Faruk, Kadir and Sultan.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicts led by Bablu Mia attacked farmer Tufazzal Hussain and his other associates at the village while they were working at a farm land on February 7, 2007.
Critically injured Tufazzal was sent to Tarail hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
On the day, victim's son filed a murder case with Kendua police station against the six persons.
Police after investigation of the case submitted charge-sheet to the court against the six.
The judge after examining the witnesses and evidences found them guilty and announced the judgement.
