Outlawed leader killed in Magura gunfight

MAGURA, Feb 25 (BSS): An outlawed leader was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Khalimpur village under Sadar upazila early this morning.
The deceased was identified as Daud Ali alias Tiger Daud (40), leader of outlawed criminal gang 'Tiger Bahini' and son of Babar Ali Biswas of Nandpara village of the upazila.
On a tip-off, police arrested Daud from Rabichara area of the upazila at about 2.30am and according to his confession, police reached Khalimpur area with him for recovering arms.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers his associates started firing on them, forcing them to hit back with firing, triggering a gunfight, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Sudarshon Kumar Roy.
Daud was caught in the line of fire and critically injured while his cohorts managed to flee.
The injured Daud was sent to Magura Sadar Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead. Four policemen were also injured during the gunfight.
Police also recovered three firearms and 21 round of bullets from the spot. He was wanted in several cases including murder, terrorism and extortion, Sudarshon Kumar Roy added.
