Over 35 tonnes honey collected from mustard fields in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Jan 26 (BSS): A total of 35.4 tonnes of honey was collected from the mustard fields in the district this year.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said due to favourable weather, 3070 kilograms more honey were found this time than the last year.

Farmers in the district cultivated mustard on 21850 hectares of land but honey was collected from 4751 hectares, they said.

Honey collectors set up 4223 bee boxes in six Upazilas, a sharp rise in 113 boxes than the previous year.

About 11500 kilograms of honey were collected in Dewanganj Upazila, 11200 kilograms in Islampur, 7000 kilograms in Sarishabari, 3800 kilograms in Melandah, 1500 kilograms in Bakshiganj and 400 kilograms in Madarganj, sources informed.
