Overall development of womenfolk stressed

GAIBANDHA, Jun 17 (BSS): Speakers at a function on Tuesday stressed the need for overall development of womenfolk by participating in all uplift works to build a women friendly society.

"As the country's half the population is women, it is quite impossible to push forward the nation towards desired progress without the development of the womenfolk", they said.

They made the comments while addressing a workshop on the formation of women development forum at the auditorium of Sadar upazila parishad of the town here this morning.

Sadar upazila parishad arranged the function under upazila governance project funded by European Union, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, UNCDF and UNDP. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ehsan-e-Elahi was the chief guest at the workshop and acting upazila parishad chairman Rashida Begum was present as special guest. UNO Ashraful Momin Khan presided.
