Overall flood situation remains unchanged in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Sept 1 (BSS): The situation in the vast low laying areas of three upazillas of the district on the bank of river Padma and Arial Khan is static though the water level rose by one centimeter during last twenty four hours.
It may be mentioned here that due to onrush of flood waters from upstream low laying areas of Sadar, Char Bhadrasan and Sadarpur upazillas went under water and hundreds of people got marooned, says an official source.
District Relief and Rehabilitation office(DRRO) office sources said that immediately after inundation, the district administration officials including Deputy Commissioner, ADCs, UNOs and upazilla chairmen have started distributing rice and cash money among the affected families.
DRRO office sources told BSS today that the administration has so far distributed 53 metric tons of rice and Taka 1,30,000 (one lakh thirty thousand ) in cash among the affected families. The administration has also engaged six medical teams to look after the condition of the marooned people and to ensure safe drinking water.
DRRO office sources said that relief work will continue till the flood water recedes completely.
