Pabna college principal assailed by attackers

PABNA, Apr 20: A college principal suspended on corruption charge was beaten and chopped by some assailants in the district town about 30 metres from Pabna police station Sunday morning. Internal conflict over the college might be the reason behind the attack, sources said.

The victim, Md Abdul Mannan, 52, principal of Shahid M Monsur Ali College was suspended on corruption charge in November last year.

The victim's brother Md. Abdul Khaleque said, Mannan was going to court on Sunday morning. When he reached Joykalibari Mondir area some 8 to 10 assailants suddenly attacked him. They beat him up with hammer and chopped him mercilessly to kill him. In a critical condition he was first taken to Pabna Medical College Hospital and was shifted to Dhaka for better treatment.
