Pabna, Magura road accidents kill three

A total of three people were killed in separate road accidents in Pabna and Magura districts on Tuesday, report agencies.

In Pabna, two people were killed and three injured when a pickup rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Pabna's Santhia upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Motahar Hossain, 30, son of Abdur Razzak of Vitepara village under Nagdemra union of the upazila and Faruk Hossain, 32, son of Abdul Barik of the same area.

The injured were admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Identities of the injured could not be known immediately.

Nabir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Madhupur Highway Police Station, said a speeding pickup hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw in front of Samasnari Madrasa on the Dhaka-Pabna highway around 8:30 am, leaving Motahar and Faruk dead on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue for autopsies, added the OC.

In Magura, a man was killed and eleven others were injured in a road accident on the Magura-Jashore road in the Moghir Dhal area under Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sajeeb Sheikh, 17, son of Wazed Ali Sheikh, a resident of Majhail Mandartala village of Sreepur upazila of the district.

The accident occurred in the area when a Dhaka-bound bus from Satkhira collided head-on with a three-wheeler (Nata) around 9am, leaving helper Sajeeb of the three-wheeler dead on the spot and eleven others injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Magura Highway Police Liaquat Ali said.

Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Magura 250-bed Hospital morgue.

Nine of the injured were taken to Magura 250-bed Hospital and two people have been sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition for better treatment, he said.

Police seized the bus and three-wheeler from the spot, the OC added.
