Pahela Boishakh celebrated in dists

Our Correspondent KHULNA, Apr 15: To welcome the Pahela Boishakh, different socio-cultural organisations, government and non-government organisations including the district administration took up various programmes in Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts. The programmes included colourful rallies, traditional Boishakhi fairs with Bangla food items, blood donation, cultural functions, and photo exhibition. In the district towns including Khulna city a colourful procession participated by hundreds of people was brought out through the main roads drawing attention of huge spectators gathered at the waysides. The Khulna district Shilpakala Academy brought out a colourful 'Mongol' procession from the circuit house ground headed by the State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Shufian. Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Ahmed, President and Secretary of district Shilpakala Academy, different political and cultural leaders were among others taking part in the rally which ended at the Shaheed Hadis Park. Our Correspondent in Gopalganj reports: Pahela Boishakh the 1st day of Bangla New Year was celebrated throughout Gopalganj district in a befitting manner Sunday. Various programmes were chalked out by district administration, Gopalganj pourashava, government and non-government organisation, educational institutions, cultural institutions, Shishu Academy, Shilpakala Academy, Udichi Shilpi Goshthi and others. A Baishakhi procession started from Shilpakala Academy premises and ended at poura park with people carrying colourful festoons, placards and banners wearing masks and singing Boishakhi songs.
