People-friendly land related services emphasised

RAJSHAHI, May 27 (BSS): Speakers at a meeting here Tuesday said the land related services must be peoples-friendly and accountable for the sake of welfare of the public in general.
They mentioned that many of the people still now suffer a lot due to various land related complexities and said time has come to reduce their sufferings through the best of uses of ICT. Introduction of the digital land survey in the country would also remove the people's sufferings related to the land disputes caused by the conventional land records.
They said this while inaugurating a three-day "Specialised Land Service Week" at Borakuthi Land Office in the city Tuesday. Main objective of the week is to create public awareness on various land related issues like laws and rules, development tax, ownership, tax, registration and management.
The week intends to promotion of effective, transparent and accountable land governance practices towards access to equitable land and property rights for the poorest community.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed addressed the meeting as the chief guest. Additional Commissioner Haiyul Quiym, Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Zonal Settlement Officer Muminur Rahman, Divisional Deputy Land Reformation Commissioner Shayam Kishore Roy and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Land) Dr Dewan Muhammad Shahriar Firoj also spoke.
