Plan for action needed to combat violence against children

RAJSHAHI, May 3 (BSS): Utmost importance should be given to formulation of a plan of action to combat physical and mental punishment and other violence against children at educational institutions for the sake of their proper development and grooming, speakers at a discussion said here yesterday.

They viewed proper and effective enforcement of the directives given by the most respectable High Court has become an urgent need to end the unethical punishment in educational institutions.

The observations came at an advocacy and campaign meeting styled "Reduction of Violence against Children" held at conference hall of Association for Community Development (ACD).

More than 100 schoolboys and girls coming from the poor and distressed community were present at the meeting.
