Police arrest prime accused in Ctg mother, daughter murder case

CHATTOGRAM, June 15: Chattogram District Police on Sunday arrested Rimon Barua alias Teju Barua, the prime accused in the brutal murder of a woman and her daughter at Chenamoti in Chattogram's Anwara Upazila.

Rimon Barua was arrested from Patiya Police Station area in the night, according to Chattogram Additional Superintendent of Police (Industrial Area and DB) Md. Russell.

On Saturday, housewife Annie Barua (40) and her daughter Priyonti Barua (16) were stabbed to death, allegedly over a financial dispute with their neighbour at their house, according to preliminary investigation by the police. The house is located at Chenamoti Barua Para area of Ward No. 6 in Anwara's Paraikora Union.

Annie Barua's husband Sujan Barua filed the case at Anwara Police Station on Sunday. Police said the incident is under investigation.
