RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Feb 23: With the publication of the final list of candidates for election to the Rajshahi University Teachers Association (RUTA) the election tempo has started gaining momentum.

There will be a straight fight between two main panels, pro-administration and anti administration, each having 15 candidates. The pro-administration backed progressive teachers' yellow panel has issues leaflets explaining achievements of the present administration in checking terrorism on the campus and restoring academic environment.

The anti-administration backed BNP-Jamaat oriented white panel on the other hand has pointed out in print innumerable malpractices that have been practiced in five-year long tenure of the administration.

It has also accused the administration of ignoring democratic values by not calling a single session of Senate during its tenure of office.

White panel also said, "The administration has appointed more teachers than the numbers of posts advertised".

The candidates of the both panels have started meeting voters in the department, institutions and even going door to door. The election fever is likely to gain momentum till February 24, the day of election.
