Potato cultivation gets momentum in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Nov 23 (BSS): Plantation of potato seeds is getting momentum and farmers are giving their full efforts to make all time record of potato farming in the district.

The district administration is constantly monitoring the overall progress of potato farming and smooth supply of fertilizers, pesticides and other necessary agri-inputs to farmers to achieve a success in farming of potato crop this year.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said the department has fixed the target to cultivate potatoes on 10,152 hectares of land during this season in the district and production target has been fixed at 1,80,386 metric tons.

Deputy Director of DAE Md Nazrul Islam told BSS that special initiative were taken for cultivating hybrid variety of potatoes aiming to produce a record quantity of potato this season.
