Potato cultivation in Nilphamari nearing completion

NILPHAMARI, Jan 8: Cultivation of late variety potato is nearing completion in Nilphamari. DAE sources said this year's target of potato cultivation is in 18869 hectares of land to produce 370947mt of potato at an average production of 19.65mt per hectare.

In the meantime harvesting of early variety potato is in the last stage. Granula variety potato was cultivated as early variety in the Bengali month of Ashwin and Kartik.

Granula variety potato which was sold at Tk 50 per kg in the markets in the months of Kartik and Agrahawan is now being sold at Tk 10 per kg and the price of it is likely to fall further.
