Preparations for Durga Puja progressing fast in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Oct 6 (BSS): Preparations for holding Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, are progressing fast throughout the district as the commencement of the annual event draws nearer.
The five-day festival of the largest minority community will begin this year from October 10 with due respect and religious fervor.
The festival will conclude on October 14 through the immersion of idols at different water bodies as the community will celebrate the Bijoya Dashami.
General secretary of District Puja Celebration Parishad (DPCP) Principal Paresh Chandra Saha said a total of 551 puja mandaps would be erected in all the seven upazilas in the district this year.
Of the total, some 100 puja mandaps would be erected in Sadar upazila, 122 in Sundarganj, 106 in Gobindaganj, 94 in Sadullapur, 58 in Saghata, 54 in Palashbari and 17 in Fhulchhari upazila.
