Prices of veg, spices rise in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Aug 26: The prices of vegetables and spices have been climbing up at the kitchen markets of almost all the upazilas in the district.
At different markets in Rajshahi city, Tanore, Godagari, Paba, Mohanpur, Bagha, Puthia and Durgapur, prices of vegetables have increased by Tk 40 to Tk 50. Green chilli price has gone up to Tk 150 or more per kg that was between Tk 70-80 in last week.
Besides, aubergine, cucumber, snake gourd, lady's finger and other vegetables prices are going up as well.
On the other hand, prices of onion, ginger, garlic, cumin, cinnamon, cloves and other varieties of spices also have been increased by Tk. 20-30 per kg. During a visit in Tanore kitchen  markets on Tuesday, onion was being sold at up to Tk 95 per kg which was between Tk 40 and 45 in the last week.
Meanwhile, local traders said, vegetable prices have gone up as flood caused supply shortage.
