Production of quality fish seed urged

RANGPUR, Sept 20 (BSS) Experts at a training course here today stressed for effectively enhancing quality fish seed production and distribution among private sector hatcheries through developing appropriate strategies and using practical approaches.
Output in different fish production systems in the country could be increased further to bring more benefits to fish farmers if production and distribution of quality fish seed among them could be ensured, they said.
They were addressing in an inaugural session of the three-day training course on "Fish Seed Improvement Initiative for Department of Fisheries (DoF) Officials" at ASOD Training Centre in the city.
World Fish has been organising the training with assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia in Bangladesh (CSISA-BD) Project.
Former Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) Dr. M. Gulam Hossain attended the ceremony as the chief guest with Fish Scientist at the CSISA-BD Project of WorldFish Dr. Md. Nahiduzzaman in the chair.
